Description

I have seen rather promising progress in the Nexus Team’s project, Sonic Nexus, (more on that here: Edit: Site temporarily down for revision) and I thought it might be best to add some polish to their website’s main banner, so I took a day or so to create this classic style render. I believe we can expect to see it in use after a site overhaul.

The render is free for the Nexus Team’s usage, and everyone else will have to go through them to get permission for usage elsewhere. If I find this improperly posted, I will get the staff of whatever site it’s not supposed to be appearing on to take it down. If any of you want to reference this for conversations, link back here – do not rip it.

Now then, as a lot of you may know, I always put Sonic’s post-Adventure design in all of my boss pictures, regardless of which game the scene was from, so you can see this as a bit of payback for our familiar friend, Classic Sonic. Don’t expect him to start showing up all over the place, though. Although his friends just might.

Production Notes:
- I’ve only tried to shade “Genesis Era” style once in the past, on my sister’s line art for “The Modern Classic” [link] but I must say that it is conveyed much better here. To me this almost looks like a long lost retro age render or something – wouldn’t you agree?
- I usually don’t do pieces without standard backgrounds like this one, so I attempted to whip up what I thought was fitting for the situation.
- I do not want to see any “Wow, he should have looked like this in Sonic 4!” comments. Just don’t waste the keystrokes. If you ask me, the reason stated for modern Sonic being in Sonic 4 is the same reason I put that same Sonic in all of my boss pictures: they’ve moved past the retro era’s characters’ looks, and there’s no reason to move backwards. (I still don’t know why I’m so willing to switch between Eggman’s looks, though. More likely than not it is to demonstrate that he just changed outfits.)

OMG!! U make all the classic pictures U did so... um, PERFECT!! I LOVE your work!! I like this one the most!
<img class="avatar" src="a.deviantart.net/avatars/defau…" alt=":iconlalalala:" title="lalalala" /> I also love the Tails picture you did, and I also like the one with classic Knux in it! <img class="avatar" src="a.deviantart.net/avatars/h/a/h…" alt=":iconhappymeowplz:" title="happymeowplz" /> I also think the classic version of Eggman is cute...
I wonder why they renamed him Eggman. Robotnik is WAAAAY CUTER. I like that the classic versions are smaller, and that they have no eyecolor with a shine dot. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/> But the versions of them that I like the most is when they have no shine-dot! Cute, eh? <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" title=";) (Wink)"/> Bye! :3
