XX Zone - vs. the Super Eggrobo Z

Sonic took his mighty leap from the Egg Utopia to this satellite, and on its seemingly endless road, Sonic conquered all of the foes from stages past. At the inevitable end, Sonic encountered Eggman in a new mech, an imposing titan, and Eggman will fight to make sure Sonic's exit from the station is far more painful than the boarding...

Production Notes:
- Alright, we're finally out of all of those underground places I've been drawing recently, and we're in open space. Next, I'll have to make sure I tackle a piece that doesn't have this type of perspective. I dislike drawing the tops of platforms that we never actually see the top of, because I just have to start guessing and making stuff up.

Everything else is pretty standard stuff.

Concept - Sonic Team/Dimps

Nice work. This boss was interesting and a little difficult. I like the shading you did here.

I can't believe I still haven't commented on this...shame on me.

I guess this piece had a lot of impact on me, since this was the very first game I ever played. When I was 9, you can bet your ass this boss seemed like the most impossible puzzle in the world. "What? Going down on the platforms?! NOW you tell me, internet?!" Haha, anyway, anecdotes aside...

You never cease to amaze me! I know it's basically a given that you will always get all the details right in a level and in a boss, but still...it's so impressive how you don't ignore a single line.

...

...

...Argh! Do you know how hard it is to comment on this?! You keep up the perfection in all your works at a constant level, so it's like there isn't anything to point out...XD I was originally going to point out the flat-looking laser, but someone beat me to it. Even with the explanation you gave, I still feel like something's missing, but that's more of a personal choice than an error. Anyway, that's just a small thing. I really love the colour scheme in this piece, and how the stars and the planet don't need to be realistic to improve the picture.

I have so much respect for you, you have no idea. XD

Also, I agree with what you said on another comment about giving spiffy works spiffy titles. XD

I thank you for this comprehensive comment. I remember first reading "use the platforms to reach the robot's head (preferably on the way down)," and I remember thinking to myself, " :| Why didn't I think of that?"

Thank you for noting the accuracy. Most of the fun and challenge in creating these pieces comes from doing all of the research and resource gathering necessary to generate accurate recreations. Oftentimes, I pick up some neat trivia along the way that might get relayed in the artist's comments.

When it comes to the pieces' overall quality, I'd definitely say there was a great increase in the accuracy of my Sonic model at or around my Metallic Madness piece. That's when my sister and I came across a Jazwares' 3 inch Sonic figure, and using that as a reference has certainly straightened out my misconceptions relating to the blue blur's looks. If I can take little steps like those in other areas, I just might be able to improve.

Thanks for being sure to read back to see what has and has not been pointed out before. I would certainly appreciate it if more people followed that practice.

Your words are very honoring, and I am glad to hear that my pieces can generate these types of feelings. Thank you for your comment.

Awesomely done as always

That boss looked simple, but was a hassle to beat the first time! :XD:

Ah, top notch work so far.

Still, I haven't played this boss, so I wouldn't really know, but...are the eyes busting out headlights or is that supposed to be some kind of laser? Because if it's supposed to be a laser, it seems like it could look a lot less flat than it does, at least in my opinion. Dunno whether or not you were going for that or not. :O
