It is one thing to utilize what others have created to build something great; it is another to build your greatest creations from scratch.
I have done 3 primary animations on this site. A cutscene made with sprites, my animated Doomsday Zone boss pic, and now I want to present this, an animated full boss battle. Way back when, I had ideas for a Sonic Fan Game. They never came to fruition, and looking back now, Im sure glad they didnt, but this stuck as a timeless element something that never lost its appeal. Photoshop stopped working on my computer recently (in the middle of my Gene Gadget Boss picture no less) and I didnt want to move on to another picture without that one being done. Dont know why, but this is the first side project I thought of knocking out. Did it turn out perfectly? Of course nothing ever turns out just as planned, but with my current skills, this is my best. Just wait, someday Ill make another one of these, and you wont be able to tell if its an actual video game or not. Notes: Oh, wait, I almost forgot. Epic Backstory. Sonic the Hedgehog - Vs. Boss King Boom Boo As Sonic approached the depths of this dark temple in hopes of finding a way out, he was sealed in a chamber. His attention was brought to a violent glow in the background, and before him appeared an odd being. It simply laughed, and called forth its minions the Attack Boos. They attempted to swarm Sonic, but his nimble movements were enough to keep him safe. King Boom Boo became annoyed, and busted right through the wall of the chamber. Sonic pursued, hoping to end this little skirmish and finally free himself from this unforgiving environment Okay, now onto the notes. Im just going to go over each component of the animation, hopefully answering any questions before you present them. -I do hope you all realize that everything here is drawn (not sprited) from scratch using the style found in my boss pictures. You know, drawn in Flash, Burn and Dodged in Photoshop and all that jazz... -Sonic is made up of 8 frames, based off of a Sonic Advance 2 run animation. He sort of ended up looking like a Retro-Current era mix if you ask me. -King Boom Boo I planned on so many more types of animations for him, but I just realized that I was over thinking it. I feel I shouldnt go into his various flaws, because thatll just absorb all the attention if I do. -BG The Zone is custom. Not a lot of inspiration, except for the green lights, which are similar to those found in SA2. -Flames Okay remind me not to try to animate flames again. Some of them turned out well, others, not so much. And it should be apparent which is which. -Sound I am really not a sound expert, and I tried to make due with what I could scrounge up. The Kings sound effects were ripped from SA2B with the help of an Action Replay code that turned off the BGM. So in all this was the best I was going to get. I suppose in all I should just say that if youre going to give critiques, try not to make the sound center of your attention. -HUD Yes, I realize there is no timer. Is there much I can do about it? At this stage, not really. Otherwise, I think it looks great sophisticated. A final note Heed the paragraphs in the credits before you think of laying a finger on this animation. I tried being nice and it got me trampled on. If I find this anywhere but here on deviantART- I will make sure the officials annihilate you. Period. CommentsThis is freaking awesome!

The only thing I didn't like about it was that the first three hits had no real variation, Sonic didn't get hurt, there was no counterattack like most bosses have, though it really did feel like a real boss battle. -- Days, these days go by, still I wonder why, I look up straight up to the sky~ |MIFaTL!|MIFaTL 2!|MIFaTL dA! As I watched this over and over, I came to realize the same flaws. The lack of variation is something I can definitely agree on, and I wanted to have the King bite, but couldn't think of the best way to get it done.
In all, I'm quite glad you like it. -- "When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all..." - Futurama |

It is, however, not something that has not been done before, and therefore loses marks in the "Originality" category, but the style with which it is done is great. Using existing sprites, and modifying the colour and shading is a fantastic idea, and gives the whole thing a much more professional appearance.
Overall though, it leaves me without much of a lasting impression. It lacks a certain brilliance required to capture the heart, but as said by the artist them self, they still do not have the skills they so wish to have.
I look forward to their next animation with great anticipation! Best of luck to you!

First of all, the animation is excellent. Sprites then made in PS then Flash really made it look smooth and constant. The whole ideas with Boomboo's (Think that's his name o.O) attacks are original, yet familur from if you've played Sonic Adventure 2.
Now improvement, possibly at the end Sonic could have a little finishing pose, like in Sonic Advance two he's run but showing the audience the peace sign or something. But that's all I can really think of.
I'd love to see more of this, it really is excellent. Keep it up!
